Sustainably Made Socks
Our Values and Commitments
Sustainable
We use Recoverâ„¢ recycled cotton fibers from Ferre Yarns in Spain in nearly all of our knitwear and apparel products. Family-owned since 1947, Ferre has been a pioneer in recycled yarn manufacturing. We buy directly from their North Carolina partner mill, Hickory Mills, another family-owned business that is 100% American-owned.Â
Inclusive
We work closely with the Mozaic Organization, a non-profit in the Finger Lakes that employs a workforce that is 75% people with disabilities. For the rest of our knitting needs, we partner with Flek Knitting in New Jersey, a family-run manufacturer with decades of experience producing high-quality knit fabrics and specialty textiles.
Local
Although our knitting machines are operated in the Fingerlakes and in New Jersey, the majority of the work that goes into our products happens right here in New York. At our 3,000-square-foot factory in Gowanus, Brooklyn, we cut and sew nearly every product we make, allowing us to maintain exceptional quality while keeping manufacturing close to home.
Quality
At Upstate Stock we are committed to revitalizing and modernizing older manufacturing processes, focusing on hyper-local production that uses sustainable materials and supports ethical labor.

About Upstate Stock
American manufacturing is far from dead. Built on the principle of vertical manufacturing—where every step of production is owned and overseen by Upstate Stock—the brand demonstrates that high-quality, USA-made goods can still be produced locally and offered at an accessible price.
