NY manufacturing

Supporting NY made goods.

Upstate Stock is a unique company founded on the belief that New York State’s long tradition of manufacturing is far from dead. Built on the principle of vertical manufacturing—where every step of production is owned and overseen by Upstate Stock—the brand demonstrates that high-quality, USA-made goods can still be produced locally and offered at an accessible price. Upstate Stock is committed to revitalizing and modernizing older manufacturing processes, focusing on hyper-local production that uses sustainable materials and supports ethical labor. Through strong partnerships with Recover Textiles—the world leader in upcycled and recycled yarns—and the Mozaic Organization, a non-profit in the Finger Lakes that employs a workforce that is 75% people with disabilities, we continue to build a model of manufacturing rooted in sustainability, inclusivity, and New York pride.

First and foremost, Upstate Stock is a company dedicated to manufacturing fine knit goods. Whether producing for our own main line, creating private label products for other brands, or fulfilling large government contracts, we are true manufacturers. With knitting machines located in Upstate New York and New Jersey, and a large sewing facility in New York City, we source yarn from some of the oldest mills along the East Coast—using exceptional, unique materials that are proudly sewn right here in New York.

On January 1st, the flagship Upstate Stock store in Brooklyn was sold to a local family. Opened in 2016, the shop quickly became both a showcase for our own products and a hub for unique goods sourced from across New York State. The concept is simple: keep it hyper-local and feature only brands made in New York. The new owners continue to carry on the spirit of supporting New York makers and maintaining the community-focused vision that defined the space.

Following the sale of the flagship store, Upstate Stock has expanded its manufacturing footprint with a new factory in Gowanus, Brooklyn. This space represents the next step in our mission to grow local production and increase our in-house capabilities. In addition, we’ve expanded our apparel manufacturing in the Finger Lakes through a partnership with the non-profit Mozaic Organization, which proudly employs a workforce that is 75% people with disabilities. Together, these facilities allow us to go beyond knit accessories—broadening our work into apparel and other product categories—all made in the USA. Every piece continues to reflect our commitment to quality, sustainability, and New York–based manufacturing that has defined the brand since day one.
